One of the biggest barriers to affordable home ownership for first time buyers is the cost of Mortgage Insurance Premiums. This insurance is generally required when the down payment on the purchase of a home is less than 20% which few first time buyers have available. This is very good news and SALT hopes that this isn’t a temporary decrease.
