Data from a new Kid Count study shows one in three children are being raised by a single parent, and single-parent households are 4.5 times more likely to live in poverty. In total, 12% of children (8.5 million) are living in high-poverty areas, with local poverty rates that vary greatly, from as few as 1% living in poverty in Wyoming to 84% in Puerto Rico.
